  1. Shouldn't they ask their hand picked content creators to help out recording official footage for the event?
  2. Am I the only one bothered by the ending screen when the game is closed?? If I'm closing the game it means I don't want it opened anymore and I need to do other things, why do I have to wait before I can start using my monitor again? Also seeing the Boss Battle image appearing makes me cry inside a little bit
  3. I'm sorry, you're alone in this one. In most situations you have the advantage if you play with a tank set, especially based on how the +% RS is calculated and applied
  4. This is a really well thought out response regarding the topic. I agree on the blast radius, bringing it down to 500 would help, and then probably also slightly reducing damage. Most of the things you mentioned could also be applied to the bazooka. I would also take into consideration the knockback amount, sometimes it feels to intese. Having it as an actual stats that changes for each weapon type would help balancing the "drawbacks", since firing rate becomes irrelevant when swapping. However we need to be careful, because at the moment rockets and granates are also the only way we have to fish out campers. I've mentioned it already in the post I've wrote about run speed melee and set synergy (/index.php?/topic/2033-run-speed-melee-and-set-synergy/), having a buff on both the melee's run speed and even the +% speed given by a set would be a good way create more dynamic matches. It would help in this case as well, with good reaction times you could get out of the way of a granate easier and fast targets are harder to aim with these type of projectiles.
  5. Well thought post! I only play zombie mode from time to time so I have no opinions on balancing. However, I would add Cargo and Magic Paperland to to the list of maps that needs urgent glitch fixes
  6. It's creazy to think that at the moment the design of icons is the biggest hottest topic the community is complaining about.. Litreally anything is better then what we have right now, but if they do rework them I hope they'll hire a UI designer and take their time to make them, because developing good looking icons is no easy feat. If they just "update them" because the community demands it, and they are "not good enough" we'll enter a never ending cycle of complain, and there are more important things the devs should focus on. Great effort with your work, below you can find couple of notes about them (of course these are MY opinions, I don't want to take away anything from the work you've done, I love the passion) Legibility The font used on numbers is too thin Numbers in a lot of them either not have enough maring/ breathing space at the edges or, straight up go oustide of it Secondary shapes are too chaothic and make the icon look "busy" For the shading, you went with Left/Right brightness difference, it's a nice idea but the contrast in some of them could be adjusted. That said I prefer how the original ones had sublte higlights/shadows to make them look less flat wihtout overdoing it for the colours combination picked of the primary and secondary elements don't really fit well togather for the shapes they overall feel too spiky, they don't really fit with the "toy figures" theme and it makes them hard to read They have a random feeling to them, as if the combination of shapes have been picked randomly slapped on each other Because the levels go up to the 3 digits now, it's quite challenging design clean and readable icons. I believe they've taken this decision to give more a sense of progression, but in a way they kind of made the number feel worthless, this is especially true between level 1 to 100 since you blast trought the levels so quickly. So if they make new designs they should defintly focus more on refining the look of the ones above the 100 mark, and could probably keep the current ones for 0-99. Just a reminder of what the old ones looked like so you don't have to google it: What's great about these, is that every 10 levels you get a brand new shape, but the 6-10 versions are basically upgrades of the 1-5 ones However these still have flows (again my opinon): the 70s and 80s are basically the same, they are both "square based" (would be cool in MVR if the inons changes shape every 100 levels but every 10 levels you get a new variation of it, with two versions: one first and an upgraded one after 5 levels) the levels 6 to 10 don't really "upgrade the 1 to 5 look, 1 to 5 should probably have been a simple cirlce 56-60 are only different from 51-60 because they changed colour, they aren't an "upgraded" version the stars of 90s don't really fit with all the other icons
  7. Yeah I was thinking to look into that as well, it's just a little bit harder to find a setup to get reliable data! It doesn't feel like the melee option B is any useful atm
  8. It's a shame they've re-introduced the ADV verision of the weapons, because the stats are the same it would have been fun to have more different colours rather then having to stick with "MP weapon is green, upgraded is blue" and "RT weapon is yellow, upgaraded is red". MV is a coloful game, being able to upgrade/personalize your weapons with your favourite colours would have been more fun and would have fit the theme (even the default weapons) Imagine seeing a white pepper, green zolo, purple Pound, pink Pulse, black Saw, etc
  9. It looks like the Resoultion's options appearing in the Drop Down are populated based on what Main Display is set in Windows. That's quite annoying since I prefer having my main display set to my small fullHD one and not the 2k one I use for games We should have an option to allow us to change the target monitor directly in game
  10. What about Japan and Thailand, shouoldn't they be Japanese and Thai?
  11. I'm forced to play 3840x2160 on a 2560x1440 montior 😒 the character's selection and weapon'spop up menus break when I do that
  12. They are on YT Video 1 ID β†’ Qqd6meaDmjY Video 2 ID β†’ ULWwq3-MnSE
  13. Apparently I cannot post links to the videos, and there was also an image that is not allowing my to upload Let me know if someone can help me posting the links somewhere.
  14. Investigation n2 - Set RS synergy I've always wondered if the +% RS given by the set only affects the default character's speed or it takes in consideration the RS of the melee. The test below proves that the +% given by the set scales the RS of the melee as well. Which means that RS sets synergises quite well with melees with high RS. However you could see it the other way around, if you start using an HP set then the RS of your melee gets penalized, which makes the Type A melee in speed a lot less effective, and because the differences in speeds between the melees are quite marginal is a lot more practical using Type C with power because it granteeds one-shots with the secondary attack. technically if you want to get the most out of the RS given by both your melee and set, then you should be using both. If you start using the HP set the RS given by the melee is penalized. [VIDEO 2] So at the moment the fastest speed you can reach in the game is 580cm/s +%16 = 672.8cm/s Conclusion Investigation 1 What I cared about the most during these tests is how much is the difference between wearing Type A in speed and Type C in power. Running 120m, which is such a long distance in this game, using Type A in RS it's only 1:57s faster, I think that's a little bit ridiculous, not really worth it. Investigation 2 This makes me think that the way speed is implemented isn't the ideal way. RS sets playstaile should be dynamic, I often find myself to just run towards the enemy and try to oneshot them with the melee's secondary attack, which means I need to use Type C melee and which also means that if I use Type C melee I loose the RS synergy given by Type A. In MY opinion the best MicroBolts is a dynamic MicroBolts, this is thanks to the core fast swapping mechanic, it really encourages a dynamic playstile, if RS sets are penalized by the way the +% speed is implemented then it should be buffed. I think, ideally, the +%RS should only be applied on the base speed of the character (so +%16 should be applied on the 500cm/s β†’ 580cm/s) , keeping the melee's RS being a sperate value applied no top (580cm/s + 100cm/s). This would make it more fair for both RS and HP loadouts. Of course we don't want to ruin the balance of the game, what would be the impications of buffing speed? Not many, counterpoints could be that fast characters are harder to shoot at and they can do trick jump more easily. Players are now so good at aiming anyway (especially when you get one-shotted by Snipers Type B/D in power which is the meta rn), and reaching cool places with jumps only makes the game more fun (it would be also be cool if some invisible walls in certain maps were removed, if you have a dynamic playstle and penalize camping spots there is no arm in doing so). TLDR No TLDR today you'll have to read πŸ™‚
  15. [VIDEO 1] The ends times respectivly are: A Speed β†’ 21:00 C power β†’ 22:57 (1:57 slower then A in RS) C default β†’ 23:23 (2:23 slower then A in RS) Basic β†’ 24:21 (4:21 slower then A in RS) By glancing at the timelines of the videos we can visually see these differences, but let's do some maths In this case CTB comes in handy, it always tells you the distance you are from the battery base/spawn location Luckly Toy Garden 2 has a CTB map, and it looks like the distance between the first and start location run in the video is ~120m. Of course it's a "Figure meter", the whole game is probably just using real world scales, but the assets in the maps are huge to make it look like you are a tiny toy. Know let's look at the Melee RS stats, they are all around the 500 mark, for argument's sake let's assume that that stat is actually the cm/s your character is running. So, nowe we actually cross check the "120m" distance, we know with the melee Type A in RS it takes 21s to go from point A to point B and if we assume that the "580 RS" is actually 580cm/s then the character runs 5.8m/s. If we look at our old highscool notes we learn that speed is calculated by distance/time, which means distance can be calculated by multiplying speed with time. Let's do it with all the video's I've captured to get a more accurate result 5.8m/s x 21:00s = 121.8m 5.3m/s x 22:57s = 119.621m 5.2m/s x 23:23s = 120.796 We could try and get more data to have a more accurate result, but I'm happy with 120m So now to calculate the Base Default melee 120m / 24:21s = 4.956m/s 4.956m/s β†’ 495cm/s RS of 495 is a weird value to work with as the default, because we are only working with approximations and my recordings might not be perfect to the onehundred of a second it's a safe bet to assume RS is actually 500 Something else I've tested but I don't have the recording exported, is the RS while holding a weapon It takes the same amount of time to run from point A to B holding a weapon compared to using the melee Basic Default. Which means the default RS of the weapons is also 500cm/s, which is basically the default Max Run Speed of the Character
  16. I did some test on the Run speed, below you can find my fniddings. (posting as comments because i'ts not allowing me to upload the whole thing in one thread) The test I've been doing are in Toy Garden 2, running from one side of the map to the other, I've got a setup that allows me to reliably take the same route, which means the times are reliable. Investigation n1 - Melee's RS In the video below I'm comparing 4 melees Type A upgraded in Run Speed β†’ 580 Type C upgraded in Power β†’ 530 Type C without upgrades β†’ 520 Basic Melee β†’ 500? or even slower (the stats in the inventory report "550" but that is clearly wrong)
  17. Everything mentioned below has probably been said already by others in other threads as well, but there is no arm in repeating them. I've divided it based on what I think is more and less important Most important It looks like you are already working in bringing back more modes, I'm sure the majority of players just wants them all back and probably in the future will ask for some more - Boss battle was super fun and could be expanded upon in the future, a daily free coupon for would be cool to have, it would stimulate players to login more as well - Bomb Battle would be cool to have as is, but players were just playing as an elimination, maybe some balancing on speed for placing and defusing the bomb might help with that - Close Combat, a lot of players are saying it's the same as having a restricted weapon, but actually Close Combat had items as well, which was making matches a lot more fun then just the limited weapon Give more purpose for the players to play β†’ let the players earn more MP, increasing daily and weekly rewards and earning some at the end of the matches - There are fewer and fewer players averaging every day, promote more the game (the event held a when the game opened is great, having more of them might help), but more importantly help new players have fun, playing against veterans is no fun (I'm looking at you veterans, take it easy when you find a new player, don't scare them away t-t). I don't have the solution, but something should be done from preventing them to uninstall the game right away. Probably there aren't enough new players to have a channel in the server just for them, but AI battles could be very fun if if all the maps were available and (I know it's hard) AI gets improved (their movement is too simple, I don't think they can even jump right now) Bring the community closer together by hosting some in-game events/tournaments Items Ammo/HP - adjust their location in every map, some of them look like have just been placed randomly - consider also spawning an HP item in the location a player has died, it creates fun dynamics - Temple Ruins map doesn't even have them - Spawns β†’ Adjust spawn points, especially in TDM and CTB. There should be a clear difference between each team area and what is the middle fighting space, having spawn at the centre of the map is awful (a good example is bitbmap 2, it would be a great map but the spawns ruin it, same goes for Rockband S) - Add more game resolutions, or at least one in between the 1920x1080 and 3840x2160 options, ideally the standard 2k 2560x1440 - Get a small QA team that helps you test new big features in private servers before they get released, a lot of small balancing and bugs could be easily fixed before reaching the public - Restricted weapons battles are not fun because once you run out of ammo you need to die, players should have x10 ammo so that they don't run out Bugs I've noticed it only with Awsome and Tight CHIP Sets, since they are the only ones I own - You can't wear a head accessory, I don't think it needs to be visible, but not having the option of getting more ammo in the matches is annoying - Awsome set doesn't allow for the back accessory either, but the Tight does Melee speed - The default Basic melee Run Speed says it has 550, but it's probably 520 like the option C not upgraded. It's misleading Shop items, were the following intentional? - Hornet, Bombard, Mimic, Exile costs RT instead of MP? - ADV-Pulse costs MP instead of RT? The sound of some Melees is broken, the Chain Saw one plays if I'm not mistaken Less Priority Give more purpose to the Single Wave, at the moment there is no point in playing it, dropping something if you reach the end would be nice. A Level 3 would also be fun to have Run Speed of the melees is almost unnoticeable. Option A upgraded in Runs Speed only gives you 580, while option C upgraded in power gives you 530, 50 run speed is not much. At the moment there is no real reason to use anything but the C option It might be cool to try and boost the Run Speed sets, maybe to a max of +%20? To encourage more dynamic playstyles and penalizing camping, making the matches have a faster pace and more engaging/entertaining More fun level icons Add more parts to the shop MP, I hope this hasn't been done because you want to release them slowly and not run out of content straight away, to counter this it might be fun to have them in a rotation, so it can also bring back players to the game to check out the new rotation. Add more maps to Training Center, so that players can explore them on their own time, especially beginners Shop items both RT and MP too expensive Wishlist Unlock some of the blocked areas of various maps, one of the big reasons I fell in love with the game is that you could almost go anywhere in the first set of maps released, but in a lot of maps there are just invisible walls that don't make sense, it's fun exploring and it's very cool to get kills when you do it from weird unexpected areas The shield was a feature everything dislikes, but maybe there is potential in implementing it in a future mode? It would bring some cool dynamics in a king of the hill mode Don't implement a weapon upgrade system, but maybe let us choose the colour of the weapon we want for the common weapons? MP weapons from Green to Blue and ADV ones from yellow to red? Also the glow was cool but visually distracting, if it was more subtle it would be nice to toggle as an option
  18. Unfortunatly, we can only compare RS and HP based on how they feel in a gamplay contex, we can't just look at numbers since the HP needs to be balanced balanced based on the weapons strenght. Looking at the stats, +560 HP are actually a +%28 boost of your base HPs However, I would love to see how much faster you would get with +%20 RS, boosting it by+%4. Everyone is now so good at aiming, would a little bit more boost in RS help with avoiding bollets, making the mathces have a faster pace? Having a general RS boost would also penalize a camping playstyle, making the matches more dynamic, engaging and entartaining (I also believe the Spawn Points should be re-adjusted, the old ones were much better. I understand it was done to keep you in the harth of the battle for more time, but they can defintly be improved. Moving them back a little bit would also make RS more appealing especially if boostead a little bit, but maps' spawn points are a whole different topic) Regarding the melees's Run Speed the difference between the 3 types is quite marginal and it looks like some numbers in their description are wrong. I'm doing a little reasearch about that as well, I might post something about it once I'm done. Right now, because the difference in RS is so small I value extremly more the reliability of one-shotting everyone with a heavy attack, it synergizes well when using the RS set.
  19. --- Introduction --- I'm writing this post because I haven't seen anyone mentioning it yet. There are some upgrade combinations that give you more stats then others. To bring everyone on the same page (is it really needed? How many new players are reading this? :') ) In MV Surge the meta was either go full HP or go full Run Speed: Full HP β†’ +560 Full RS β†’ +%16 This was for one main reason: the game was pay to win, so it was a lot more convintient to invest yout RT (surrendering your destiny and soul for the pure amusement of the sly Capsule Machine) in spinning and trying to win a Set rather then multiple parts, and sets were either full HP or full Run Speed. Howoever, now we have also the option to have a mix upgrade that gives both HP and RS in the same part! If you go with the mix option you get β†’ HP +320 and RS +%9.6 Logically you would think the mix option just gives you half of both the max HP and the max RS the full sets give you (HP +280 and RS +%8) Surprisingly, it actually gives a little bit more, which makes it a very attractive option! To be precise it gives you HP +40 and RS +%1.6 for "free". ----- ----- ----- ----- --- Breakdown --- Why does it give a little bit more? Let's dig deeper! πŸ” Below you can find the list of every upgrade of all the parts and respective upgrades, spot the pattern! Hair HP +40 and RS +1.2% HP +80 RS +1.8% Face HP +40 and RS +1.2% HP +80 RS +1.8% Top HP +80 and RS +2.4% HP +160 Run Speed +3.6% Legs HP +80 and RS +2.4% HP +120 RS +4.8% Hands HP +40 and RS +1.2% HP +60 RS +2.4% Shoes HP +40, RS +1.2% HP +60 RS +2.4% We can split them in 2 group HP Leaning that give more HP then RS Hair Face Top RS Leaning that give more RS then HP Legs Hands Shoes You can also notice that Top and Legs give more stats then the other parts. We can notice that by upgrading the HP leaning parts in HP, and the RS Leaning parts in RS we get exactly the same value given by the full Mixed combination Hair β†’ HP Face β†’ HP Top β†’ HP Legs β†’ RS Hands β†’ RS Shoes β†’ RS total β†’ HP +320 and RS +%9.6 ----- ----- ----- ----- --- Practical Examples --- What if you love the mixed combination but want to get a little bit more HP or RS? Below you can find 2 combinations that try to squeeze out as many stats as possible, while prioritizing HP in one of them, and RS in the other. - HP Squeeze - Hair β†’ HP Face β†’ HP Top β†’ HP Legs β†’ MIX Hands β†’ MIX Shoes β†’ MIX total β†’ +480 HP and +%4.8 RS - RS Squeeze - Hair β†’ MIX Face β†’MIX Top β†’ MIX Legs β†’ RS Hands β†’ RS Shoes β†’ RS total β†’ +160 HP and +%14.4 RS Contrariwise, you can get suboptimal numbers if you invert the upgrades, below you can find 3 combination that have wasted potential - HP Waste - Hair β†’ MIX Face β†’ MIX Top β†’ MIX Legs β†’ HP Hands β†’ HP Shoes β†’ HP total β†’ +400 HP and +%4.8 RS (you loose 80HP compared to the HP Squeeze combination) - RS Waste - Hair β†’ RS Face β†’ RS Top β†’ RS Legs β†’ MIX Hands β†’ MIX Shoes β†’ MIX total β†’ +160 HP and +%12.0 RS (you loose %2.4 compared to the RS Squeeze combination) - Full Waste - Hair β†’ RS Face β†’ RS Top β†’ RS Legs β†’ HP Hands β†’ HP Shoes β†’ HP total β†’ +240 HP and %7.2 RS avoid at all cost (you loose both 80HP and %2.4 RS compared to the Full Mix combination) Make sure you select the best upgrade options if you are currently using the Mixed, but want to lean a little bit more in one of the 2 stats! ----- ----- ----- ----- --- Personal Considerations --- I did all the maths during the second Beta, but I've never got the chance to report my findings. Now that the game has been out for a couple of months, we can safely assume that these stats balancing is locked in place. It all started because I liked the mixed upgrades, but I wanted to trade a little bit of HP for some extra RS. Numbers! So many! What is the best combination? It all comes down to preference and TheSituationΒΏ the situation of map/mode you are currently playing. If you are not lazy like me and don't care about looks, you could by a lot of default parts and have different upgrades for each of them (or if you capsule a lot and have a lot of really cooool parts but don't know what to do with them), then use the Presets feature in the Inventory to save and quickly swap between them. If you are unsure what to pick, using the mix option on all the parts is a safe bet. I've been trying the HP Squeeze combination, I reached the conclusion that having the extra +%4.8 RS is not really worth it, you can't really get anywhere much faster then players with full HP. I've always had a RS ftw mindset, I also find the playstile more dynamic and fun (it fits more with what MV is all about *coff *coff). I'm now rocking the RS Squeeze combination and I quite appriciate having the extra +160HP to clutch the kill sometimes. Moreover a lot of players are going for the Sniper B/D upgraded in power, which makes the full HP set less useful, if I need to get one-shotted by a sniper might as well test the shooter skill by jumping around like a little bouncy ball. Having the option to fine tune sets the same way as the single parts is amazing. I know right now MPs are quite precius, but it does only cost 10mp to do an upgarade, I would suggest everyone to have a play around with it, daily quests can easily cover the expanse. Have fun! ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- Sorry for the wall fo text, here's a TLDR - Set's stats Full HP β†’ +560 Full RS β†’ +%16 Mix β†’ HP +320 and RS +%9.6 - If you are currently using the Mix upgrades and you want to trade some HP for some RS or vice versa, be careful of what upgrades you choose - To keep note: Hair, Face and Torso give more HP Legs, Hands and Shoes give more RS - Explore different options, fine tune it to your likings and have fun.
